Education

Our schools must have the tools and capabilities to give every student the best possible opportunity to realize dreams for the future. Bruce is working on a number of fronts to meet this critical goal:

  • Reforming the Chapter 70 distribution formula to ensure that state aid is fairly provided to every school system
  • Increasing state assistance for Special Education through programs such as the "Circuit Breaker," which has provided approximately 130 million new dollars to K-12 schools in the past 2 years
  • Overhauling the School Building Assistance Program to ensure timely and adequate state payments to communities constructing or reconstructing school buildings
  • Strengthening and revitalizing our public higher education system to enable the University of Massachusetts and our state and community colleges to have the resources and the structure to meet the needs of students and their families
  • Advancing early childhood education through a comprehensive approach by state agencies
