GLOUCESTER
– Senate Minority Whip Bruce E. Tarr (R-Gloucester) has been
appointed to the Robert H. Goddard Council on Science,
Technology Engineering and Mathematics Education by Senate
Minority Leader Brian P. Lees (R-East Longmeadow) and Senate

to develop and maintain a specialized work force and to foster
economic growth.
"Education in
their fields must be a cornerstone of any successful economic
development strategy for our state," said Tarr. He added that
"I am enthusiastic about the potential to further energize our
educational systems to give students the skills and passion to
excel and to grow our economy.
Tarr will be
joined on the council by representatives of the Massachusetts
Teachers Association, the Associated Industries of
Massachusetts, technology-based companies and relevant public
